چکیده

In the present work attention is focused on friction-yielding damper CAR1 (first prototype of Control-Absorb-Retain damper), which belongs to passive energy dissipation systems. This consists very simple materials; it does not need be accomplished in heavy industry so enables its use both developing and undeveloped countries. paper presents compares two alternative solutions with seismic retrofit an existing two-story reinforced-concrete (RC) structure a moment-resisting frame located Greece constructed 1979 no longer meets requirements current anti-seismic regulations. A nonlinear static pushover analysis performed assess performance framed building under different levels shaking (“Life Safety” “Collapse”). The carried out x y directions. retrofitting only provides base shear load up 149.2% 135.6% for first second redesign but also protects steel diagonal braces from buckling. appropriate characteristics dampers has been selected wide variety choices strengthening level can easily adjusted or modified during years based selection modification number, dimensions, elastoplastic properties blades.

Seismic Response Reduction of a Building Using Top-Story Isolation System with MR Damper

In this study, the adaptability of a semi-active top-story isolation system with an MR damper for reduction of seismic responses of tall buildings has been investigated. To this end, a 20-story building structure was selected as an example. Low damping elastomeric bearings and an MR damper were used to compose a smart top-story isolation system. Artificial earthquakes generated based on design ...

Seismic Mitigation of Building Frames using Magnetorheological Damper (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The present study focusses on the damping force control of shear mode magnetorheological (MR) damper for seismic mitigations. Therefore, the semi-active MR damper which can control the vibration is analyzed both experimentally and numerically. Carbonyl iron is used as the magnetic particle and Castrol Magnetec oil as carrier fluid throughout the study. MR damper is designed and fabricated, and ...

Seismic Retrofit of a Historical Building in Tehran University Museum Using FRP Technology and Steel Jacketing

In this paper evaluation of seismic capacity of a historical building is carried out. It had been used as a national library about 40 years ago. Also, before that, it had been constructed as a part of a Royal complex. This building has been constructed by traditional methods using bricks and mortars. The ceilings system of the structure consists of jack arches. Also, the roof of the building ha...

A Comparative Analysis of Decision Making Methods for the Seismic Retrofit of Rc Buildings

Several different technical options are nowadays available to seismically upgrade an existing building. Selecting the best one with reference to a given structure generally represents a complex problem. In fact many and generally conflicting are also the points of view by which each alternative has to be judged. Decision support systems like the so called Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) m...
